ABOUT THE BAND
Break-Away Project
Insects of the Underground was formed in September 2008 by Austin, Texas musician Aaron Calhoun as an outlet for musical ideas that began pulling away from his AAA and roots-based influences into a looser, more experimental landscape. The project was built to embrace both traditional songwriting and open-ended sonic exploration, allowing each release to evolve naturally without creative boundaries.
Since its formation, Insects of the Underground has released two full-length albums: Mind Matter and Causa Sui (“Cause of Itself”). The project also released a series of singles throughout 2020, with additional material continuing to expand the band’s ever-evolving musical journey.
